The purpose of the visit was to learn about Norwegian zero-emission technology and the green transition in the offshore wind and maritime sectors in the Haugaland region.
The visit was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Foreign Affairs (UD), NHO Rogaland, and Innovation Norway. The delegation, which included representatives from countries such as the USA, India, Brazil, and South Korea, spent a large part of the afternoon at SEAM's location in Husøy. They received presentations on the Maritime CleanTech cluster from Håvard Tvedte and on the development of the Haugaland Business Park from Tiril Fjeld.
Norway has 93 foreign missions—including embassies, consulates general, and delegations. All are led by a Head of Mission, usually an ambassador or consul general, who gathers once a year for the annual meeting. With three hours available at SEAM, there was ample time for important information sharing and engaging discussions.
The participants were able to delve into SEAM's technology, the company's journey, and its future ambitions. The visit concluded with a tour of the production facilities.
"It is a great honor to be selected for such a visit," says Gunvald Mortvedt, CEO of SEAM. "The opportunity to make direct contact with Norwegian ambassadors and representatives abroad is invaluable for our international growth strategy. We are incredibly proud to have shared the exciting developments happening here, and especially to highlight our skilled employees and the crucial competence development taking place."
John Roger Nesje, Sales Manager for Europe at SEAM, noted the strong engagement from the delegation. "The interest in green technology, electrification, and hybridization was clear among the participants. We made valuable contacts with ambassadors who see great potential for our solutions in their respective host countries."
Kari Holmefjord Vervik, Regional Director for Innovation Norway Rogaland, and Christine Sagen Helgø, Regional Director for NHO Rogaland, coordinated with SEAM. SEAM and Innovation Norway have had a close collaboration in recent years.
"Innovation Norway has established itself as a solid partner on SEAM's growth journey. They contribute with networks and market knowledge, while we provide the technological expertise for reliable, green solutions. This is a combination that delivers results," Mortvedt explains.
"We see great opportunities for continued networking and collaboration with the Heads of Mission to strengthen our position as a leading international supplier of low- and zero-emission solutions. The next step will be to follow up with information materials that the representatives can use in their future work," he concludes.
