KARMØY, July 1st 2026 – Gunvald Mortvedt is stepping down as CEO of SEAM after 13 years at the helm. He is succeeded by Cheulwon Shin, who joins from the position of Director at the Hanwha Strategy Office.

Under Mortvedt's leadership, SEAM has grown from a regional player to a global leader in green maritime technology. "It has been an extraordinary journey in every sense, with SEAM at the forefront of the green transition in the maritime sector," says Mortvedt.

"I am truly proud of the team, the technology, and what we have built together with our customers. Throughout these 13 years, we have also had solid owners who have contributed at each stage of our development – and with Hanwha as our new owner, the company is entering a new phase of internationalisation. This is the right moment to hand the responsibility over to Cheulwon Shin, who will lead the next important chapter in SEAM's history."

Cheulwon Shin assumes the role of CEO on 1 July 2026 and emphasises that SEAM's core identity – proximity to customers and user-driven innovation – will remain unchanged.

"I want to commend Gunvald for his many years of dedication, and I take on this responsibility with pride and deep respect for the foundation built by the SEAM team," says Shin.

"SEAM's strength lies in our technical expertise and collaborative culture. As we now fully enter the global arena with Hanwha Engine behind us, we will continue to be the agile, reliable, and trusted partner our customers know."

To ensure a smooth transition, Mortvedt will continue to support the group in an advisory capacity going forward.
